Polson Tennis bests Co-Falls, falls to Whitefish

Whitefish Tennis downs Polson

Polson had some bright spots but the Pirates and Lady Pirates both fell to Whitefish in Northwest A Conference tennis on Tuesday, April 24.

On the girls’ side, Vivian Grainey won her No. 3 singles battle for Polson over Ainsley Grubb 6-4, 6-1. Katie Smith and Julia Barnard won their No. 1 singles bout vs. Ainsley Scott and Maggie Mercer by a score of 6-3, 6-2.

The Polson boys saw Torrin Ellis win his No. 1 singles matchup over Owen Erickson 6-1, 6-1, while Taegan Gage and Teague McElwee won the No. 3 doubles bout 6-0, 6-4 over Whitefish’s Cole Moses and Logan Hyland.

Polson takes out Columbia Falls

Both the Polson boys and girls battled hard and came out ahead of Northwestern A Conference foe Columbia Falls on Thursday, April 25.

The Polson Boys notched a 5-2 victory over Columbia Falls with several battles up and down the lineup.

In singles action, Tate Barentsen won the No. 1 singles matchup for Polson while Otto Lund won the No. 2 singles battle. Brandon Moss picked up the No. 3 singles win while Strider Gage won a marathon match against Columbia Falls’ Brady Heitz in No. 4 singles action 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

Truman Sawyer and Noah Flaten picked up a padding win in doubles, defeating Columbia Falls Lane Hoerner and Sol Masters in No. 3 doubles action.

The Polson girls picked up the 4-3 win over the Columbia Falls girls thanks to solid doubles play. Summer Newman and Josie Henriksen won their No. 1 doubles matchup over Lexi Oberholtzer and Lucie Love 6-4, 6-3. Greta Lund and Hinkley Moss won their marathon No. 2 doubles battle 7-5, 6-4.

In singles action, No. 1 singles player Lauren Collinge defeated Aliyah Arends of Columbia Falls 6-1, 6-4. Vivian Grainey won the No. 2 singles matchup for Polson over Bailey Windauer 6-2, 6-2.

Ronan Tennis reaches podium at Libby Invite

Ronan had two places at the Libby Invitational on Saturday, April 26. Beau Decker placed second in the No. 1 singles bracket, falling to Libby’s Ryan Beagle in the championship bout.

Rowan Parks placed third in the No. 4 singles bracket, downing Libby’s Teague Thompson 8-3.
