Polson drops two and Mission-Arlee posts two wins

Polson falls to Hamilton

Polson dropped its second game in a row, falling to Hamilton 11-5 on Saturday, April 20 during the Western Montana High School Baseball Showcase in Ogren Park.

The Broncs collected nine hits, while Polson committed five errors in the loss.

Three pitchers threw for Polson, with Wyatt Wadsworth striking out four and Cole Wadsworth striking out another four.

Hunter Emerson finished the game with two hits and two RBI. Both Hunter and Holden Emerson had two doubles.

Polson dropped to 8-3 on the season.

At Missoula

Polson loses to Florence-Carlton

Florence-Carlton scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth and fended off a seventh-inning rally by Polson in a 5-3 victory during the Western Montana High School Baseball Showcase in Ogren Park. It snapped a six-win streak by the Pirates.

Florence-Carlton led 5-0 through the first five innings, but Polson began to battle back. Hunter Emerson drove in one run in the top of the sixth. In the seventh, Polson scored two runs on an error.

The Pirates finished with eight hits, with Cole Wadsworth having two of them, including a double.

Ronan thumps Stevensville

Ronan improved to 3-6 on the season and snapped a three-game losing streak with a 10-4 victory over Stevensville on Saturday, April 20. Tristan Fisher tripled and drove in five runs off of three hits in the win.

Hunter Luedtke and Liam Willis combined on the mound to strike out five Stevensville batters and hold them to four hits.

Ronan led 7-0 after an inning and a half, and 9-4 after three innings of play. Everett Lozeau had a double and drove in two runs in the matchup.

Ronan drops one to Corvallis

Despite two RBI by Everett Lozeau, Ronan fell to Corvallis 9-3 on Friday, April 19. The Chiefs were held to four hits as a team, while Corvallis got out to a quick 5-0 start in the first two innings and scored two runs in the fourth and fifth.

Lozeau finished the game with two hits and two RBI, while Hunter Luedtke and Tristan Fisher each had a hit.

Mission-Arlee pummels Browning

A quick start to the game, combined with solid pitching, resulted in a 14-3 Western Division victory by Mission-Arlee over Browning. It was the second victory of the season by the team, which finished the game with eight hits.

Mission-Arlee led 8-0 after two innings and added eight runs to the bottom of the third. Browning answered back with three runs in the top of the fifth but it was too little, too late.

Browning finished with three hits, stymied by the pitching of Isadore Mitchell and Chayton Bartell. Mitchell struck out 11 and allowed just one hit. Bartell finished the game, pitching one inning and striking out three.

Jordan Johnston finished the game with two hits and four RBI, while Jeron Belcourt had a double, and Mitchell helped his own cause with a triple and an RBI.

Mission-Arlee is now 2-6 on the season.

At St. Ignatius

Mission-Arlee wins first game of season

Miles Crook had five hits and helped lead Mission-Arlee past Ronan 15-10 in West Division action on Tuesday, April 16. It was Mission-Arlee’s first victory over the season.

After one inning, Chayton Bartell doubled to put Mission-Arlee up 1-0 in the second. Ronan answered back with a run off a single by DaVonne Curley. In the top of the third inning, Mission-Arlee scored five runs on four hits for a 6-1 lead.

Ronan pulled to within 6-3, but Mission-Arlee notched three runs in the fourth and fifth. Ronan kept pace and trailed 12-8 going into the sixth. Mission-Arlee scored two more in the sixth and an insurance run in the top of the seventh. Ronan tried to claw back, plating two in the bottom of the frame, but ultimately fell.

Ronan finished the game with eight errors and nine hits. Curley’s 3-for-5 performance led the Chiefs with three RBI. Tristan Fisher had a double in the matchup.

Mission-Arlee had 19 hits, including multiple hits by Jason Leishman, Sheldon Mcleod, Jake Helser, Isadore Mitchell, and Chayton Bartel. Helser finished with four RBI, while Bartel and Mcleod had doubles, and Crooks had a triple.

Mitchell picked up the pitching win, while Helser and Vinny Shepard pitched the first 6 and 1/3 innings, striking out six.

At Ronan
