He joined the Army with his brother Bob and served in Korea. In the army he met his wife Avis Studt. They were married for over 25 years and raised three boys.

ST. IGNATIUS — Bessie Edna (Bates) Finley, 98, was born the only child to Platte and Mabel Bates in Minden, Neb., on March 24, 1908. She had one adopted brother, Robert Stewart. She married Claude E. Finley in Buffalo, Wyo., on May 20, 1928, and graduated from high school the following year with a perfect average in arithmetic.
Stand-off ends peacefully
A Polson man was taken into custody early Tuesday morning, following a stand-off that ended after the county’s Special Response Team was able to subdue the man without injury.
