St. Ignatius Center to host Internet class

Blackfoot Telephone Cooperative will again present free internet education classes in the St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center Tuesday, May 25. Participants will learn how to easily and safely find and share information on the internet. They will also increase their ability to e-mail messages, photos and perform several other tasks.

There will be two three-hour classes, one from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and one from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Computers will be provided. To register for the class, call Kate Olney at Blackfoot Telephone, (406) 541-5020 or e-mail easyaccess@blackfoot.com. Classes will likely fill up quickly so early registration is advised.

Amish Youth Singers will perform at the center on Wednesday, May 5, at 5:30 p.m. The performance will accompany the usual monthly evening meal.

There is still time to donate items for the center's spring rummage and bake sale May 4 through 8. The rummage sale will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily with the bake sale on Friday, May 7. Anyone wanting to donate items for the rummage sale may do so by dropping by the center at 312 North Main or by calling the center.

For more information about the center and its activities and services, call 745-4462 or go on the internet to missionmontana.org. The following is the schedule of activities at the center for the rest of April. Bingo is played after almost every lunch.

Ronan senior center

Well, here we are nearly through the month of April. Why is it that time moves so slowly through the cold winter months, and so swiftly through the rest of the year?

The card party was held at the Ronan center on April 19th with 29 people attending. Lunch was served by Marie Cowen. The high score went to Bob Watson of St. Ignatius, low score went to Ruby Mocabee of Ronan, most pinochles went to Elda Joy of Ronan, and Peg Johnson of St.Ignatius won the door prize. The next card party will be on May 3rd at the Charlo center.

We still have several people gone because of illness or surgery. Thankfully, most of them are on the mend.

Our birthday dinner for April is tomorrow the 30th. Come and join us.

The Senior commodities will be distributed again this month. If you do not receive them, and would like to, give the COA a call (676-2367) to see if you are eligible. You can also give them a call if you need a ride to an appointment or to go shopping.

Our schedule for the month of May is:

Monday, May 3rd, board meeting at 10 a.m., Brunswick stew; Wednesday, May 5, pork chops; Friday, May 7, Salad bar.

We have several people who play bingo on Mondays and Fridays following the noon meal, and we also have pool players who play before and after lunch.

They would all like for you to come in and join them. We are still collecting the aluminum cans to recycle, and we appreciate all of the donations that we have received so far.

And remember: There is no danger of developing eyestrain from looking on the bright side of things.

Have a good week, and we hope to see you soon.

Dixon

senior news

It was another good time at last Friday's dance at our center. What a happy bunch of people, enjoying great music, from jivey piano to mandolin and even a sax joined in with the guitars and drums. There were a few 90+ dancers out there, as well as a young teen. Do come at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, when the Dixon Seniors will be joined with a Dixon High School reunion dance. Mark your calendars NOW!

More signs of spring...bees, flies, mosquitoes and black woolly caterpillars. You gardeners know what fun it is to see which plants poke up after the long winter! A personal favorite is the bleeding heart, which pops up so early, grows rapidly, and stays blooming into the summer. It's already showy. When it quits for the season, there's still time to put out colorful annuals to hide the bare spot.

Join us for dinner at 5 p.m. on a Monday night. Or make it to the noon meal on Thursdays. Coming up for the week is:

Thursday, April 29, hot turkey sandwiches; Monday, May 3, beef enchiladas; Thursday, May 6, Indian tacos.

Stop by for a varied breakfast menu beginning at 7 a.m Monday through Friday.
