Arlee

The Arlee Senior Citizens Center invites the community to attend a fundraiser at the center on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 2-6 p.m. Enjoy a chili and fry bread feed plus beverage. Come early and bid for one or more new or gently used items such as a flashlight set, queen sized blanket and chest freezer in the silent auction, too. It’s not too early to do some Christmas shopping.

The center is located behind the Arlee Post Office and is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon for lunch.

The center also serves Saturday meals at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Visit arleemontana.org and click on Arlee Senior Center for a complete menu listing for November.

Call the center at 726-3213 if you have any questions or need more information. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Dixon

What a nice gathering enjoyed our pre-Thanksgiving feast last Thursday! Some guests came from Ronan, and stayed for bingo; several locals came for good food and fellowship, as well as our loyal regulars. Allene Cole’s daughter, Sally, is happy to be back, visiting from Connecticut. A good time was had by all.

Remember, there will be no noon meal next Thursday. Enjoy the time with family, friends, or attend one of the community dinners — and count your blessings!

The pinochle players are now meeting at 1 p.m. on Mondays. Dixon will host the group on Nov. 28, the fourth Monday. Dinner will be served on Mondays at 5 p.m.

Coming up for the holiday season will be our Christmas party after lunch on Thursday, Dec. 15. For a fun exchange, bring a wrapped gift (under $10) marked for a man, woman, or either one).

Also, we will have a cake walk and cake donations are appreciated. Call Joey Hettick, 246-3526, or Delene Tufly, 246-3271, if you will bring a cake. To help with your holiday baking, there will also be a silent auction for plates of cookies. Bring a plate for the auction, if you can, and take home a variety of goodies!

On Saturday, Dec. 17, we will hold the first monthly Dixon Center Flea Market. We will plan to hold these on the third Saturday of each month. To reserve a table or for more information contact Joey or Delene. You may find a treasure for Christmas gifting, a decoration, a good book for winter reading, a taste treat — come see what’s on display. We will be open at 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Remember, there will be no noon meal next Thursday. Enjoy the time with family, friends, or attend one of the community dinners — and count your blessings!

We would like to thank Dennis Dellwo owner of Frank’s Processing and Meats in Pablo for his generous donation to our nutrition program. It is people like you who really give our nutrition program a boost in these times of cutbacks. Many, many thanks again!

Ronan

Here I am, sitting in my office, hoping to get everything done before the “big blizzard” gets any worse. At least now we no longer have to wonder when we will get the first storm of the season.

Have a great Thanksgiving and don’t eat too much. Remember that we won’t be open or delivering meals on Thursday and Friday of this week.

We had a great Thanksgiving meal here at the center last Thursday, and served a total of 107 meals. Thanks to our cooks for doing such a great job with that meal, and with all the meals you serve us.

Our November birthday dinner has been postponed until Friday, Dec. 2. Come on in and enjoy a roast beef dinner with us. We serve at noon.

Our next evening meal is at 5 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 8, and this month we are serving roast pork.

The veterans rep will also be here that afternoon from 1 until 3. As with all of our functions, the public is invited to attend our meals.

The COA is in need of volunteer drivers to take people to various appointments and shopping. Call them at 676-2368 if you would like to give them a hand. Remember, they provide the car and the gas, you just need to give of your time.

We still have several people on the sick list, and we sure miss their smiling faces. Here’s hoping that you all are up and around soon and able to come in and join us once again.

Our menu for the rest of the month is: Wednesday (23rd) is ham, Friday (25th) we are closed, Monday (28th) is hamburgers, and Wednesday (30th) is chili. Come on in and join us for some great food and fellowship. Have a great week, and give someone a hug.
