Expo and Livestock Trade Show

The Lake County Leader will be holding their 23rd annual Expo and Livestock Trade Show. The event kicks off at the Ronan Community Center and Lake County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 9 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. The trade show is open to the public, come visit with our vendors. Technology ‘Petting Zoo’

Thinking about buying a tablet or e-reader for Christmas, but not sure what to purchase?  Why not try out a few devices first? Come to the Ronan City Library and test out our technology petting zoo, which consists of an iPad 3, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle Fire, and a Nook Color. You may also bring in your own devices if you are needing help.  The staff at Ronan City Library will assist you in all aspects of your device use.  Remember, with a valid library card, you can also check out audio and e-books.  Call us with any questions at 406-676-3682

FJBC Closed for Holidays

The Flathead Joint Board of Control will be closed from Dec. 24 to Jan. 1, 2013.  Regular office hours will resume on Jan. 2, 2013.

Technology Training

Are you giving or receiving a new electronic device for the holidays? North Lake County Public Library in Polson can help you learn to use it!  The library offers free technology training tailored to your needs.  Call or stop by the circulation desk for a schedule of classes or make an appointment for a one-on-one tutorial with the library’s in-house trainer.  This service is available Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.  Anyone needing help using a tablet, e-reader, MP3 player, or other device is encouraged to contact the library, along with those wishing to improve their computer skills or learn a new application.  Call 406-883-8225 or visit the library at #2 First Avenue East in Polson.

Library Offers Children’s Programs

Children’s programming is starting up again at North Lake County Public Library in Polson.  A special Story Time for preschoolers and their caregivers is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 3 at the library.  The program will also provide an opportunity for parents and children to meet the library’s new Youth Services Librarian, Martel Memmer.  The theme will relate to the New Year and New Year’s resolutions.  As always, the program is free and open to all. Elks Hoop Shoot

The Elks Hoop Shoot free throw contest will be held Thursday, Jan. 3 at the Polson High School Gymnasium. Free registration and warm up run from 5:30 – 6 p.m. Contest begins at 6 p.m. All boys and girls ages 8 to 13 on April 1, 2013 are welcome to participate from Polson and all the surrounding areas. Winners of each age group advance to the District Contest on Jan. 5 in Pablo. Contact: David Rensvold at 406-250-0771.

Quilt Guild Meets

The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their regular monthly meeting on Jan. 8 rather than Jan. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Terrace Lake Community Church (formerly the CM Alliance Church) at 35663 Terrace Lake Rd., east of Ronan.  Peggy Olson will present information on a wool applique class and have a sign up sheet available.  Don’t forget to bring your Block of the Month for January, and be working on your challenge fabric project.  The refreshment committee for January is Linda Trickey, Terry Clairmont, and Debbie Fangsrud.
