RONAN — The Chiefs hosted a quad mixer last Thursday against Deer Lodge, Florence and Noxon, putting on a strong showing in the process.

Ronan wrestlers won all but one of their matches in the first round, and after two rounds all but one wrestler would have at least one win on the night.

Head coach Cory Johnston could not be reached for results of the third round of matches, which saw Shelby Grant (160) and Colby Roberts’ (189) only matches of the night.

The rest of the team had at least one match in the first two rounds, with seven Chiefs entering the final round with unblemished records on the night.

At 119 pounds, Cole Snyder topped Florence’s Shea Miller in the first round and Noxon’s Brady Wilson in the second.

Brandon Dumont, wrestling at 130 pounds, defeated both his first two opponents as well, taking down Sheldon Danforth of Deer Lodge in the first round and Sean Cozby, also of Deer Lodge, in the second.

Connor Benn went 2-0 after two rounds at 140 pounds, beating Noxon’s Luke Crowe and Florence’s Broc Reed.

At 152 pounds, Kyle Lawson downed Deer Lodge’s Tristan Huff and Cory Neal of Noxon.

Quentin Denton was the final Ronan wrestler to enter round three with two wins, tackling Gary Wadman of Noxon in the first round and then Florence’s Jace Pancake in the second.

Two other Chiefs, however, did go into the third round without a loss, Chase Rhine at 125 pounds and Michael Irvine at 285 pounds, who both picked up wins in the second round of matches.

Rhine topped Noxon’s Austin Johnson, while Irvine bested another Red Devil in Alan Chojnacky.

Ronan also had two wrestlers break even after two rounds.

At 119 pounds, Trevor McAllister beat his first opponent of the night, Noxon’s Wilson, but lost in the second round to Florence’s Torren Lawson, who finished second at state last season.

Jessie Partida, wrestling at 145 pounds, suffered the Chiefs’ only loss of the first round to Pancake, but came back in the second round to beat Huff.

Tayler Sinclair, at 152 pounds, was the only Ronan wrestler to enter the final round without a win.

He lost to Wadman in the second round.

Only two wrestlers from the other teams competing went 2-0 going into the third round, Florence’s Lawson and Deer Lodge’s Connor Rogers (125).

Both beat Noxon’s Jacob Mitchell, while Lawson beat McAllister in the second round and Rogers bested another Noxon wrestler in Austin Johnson in the first.

The Chiefs will rest up for the holidays before returning to the mats on Jan. 4 to host the two-day Western Montana Duals.
