| January 2, 2014 1:18 PM

Tamara Sue Powell, 40, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at her home in Sandpoint, Idaho.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Sandpoint Events Center.

Tammy was born on January 9, 1973 in Polson to Vern and Roxanne Reum.  She played softball, basketball and was a cheerleader at Polson High School where she graduated in 1991. Tammy attended college at the University of Idaho where she first met Bryce.  She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Nutrition in 1997.

On August 30, 1997, Tammy and Bryce were married in Polson.  After college, they moved to Driggs for a short time before heading north, to Wallace, Idaho.  Bryce worked for Shoshone County while Tammy worked part time, gardened and raised their infant sons Sam and Brennan.  In 2000, they completed their journey north to Sandpoint – the home of their dreams.

Tammy loved to ski, pick huckleberries, landscape and spend time with her friends and family.  She and Bryce liked to paddle board, ride bikes and play Frisbee together.  Most of all, she loved her boys and enjoyed watching them compete in alpine ski racing and cross-country running.  Tammy was an avid photographer who knew the importance of capturing the moment with friends and loved ones.  She was a kind soul who loved nature and cared for all living creatures.  Tammy took great joy in rescuing helpless animals from squirrels to eagles.  She served on the Board of Directors for Schweitzer Alpine Racing School (SARS), created Climate CAN (an organization dedicated to promoting awareness of environmental change), and played an instrumental role in getting fluoride removed from the Sandpoint city drinking water.

Tammy is survived by her husband Bryce Powell and two sons Samuel and Brennan all of Sandpoint; father Vern Reum and brother Shane Reum both of Polson; grandmother JoAn Lynn also from Polson; and a community of dear and amazing friends in Sandpoint, Idaho and beyond. She was preceded in death by her mother Roxanne Reum in 2009.

Memorial donations may be made to SARS, PO Box 63, Sandpoint, ID 83864. Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Tammy’s online memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her guest book.
