The Ronan wrestling team was able to see their team’s progression from their first tournament at the Owen Invitational.

The Chiefs, who only had six wrestlers show up at the Owen Invitational, were closer to full strength at the Mining City Duals on Dec. 8-9 at Butte Central, coach Dylan Kramer said.

“You always see a nice variety of competition there and see where you and size up against some of the other Double A schools,” Kramer said.

Kramer’s team, who has aspirations of making another trip the Montana High School Activities Association state wrestling tournament in Billings, said duals, like Mining City, gives his team an opportunity to see competition from the east which they won’t see again until Billings.

“You can see some of the teams from the eastern portion of the state which is nice because you won’t get to see them again until (later in the season),” Kramer said.

Kramer said he felt Noah Cheff and Spencer Stagg excelled in the duals. The two wrestlers were undefeated in the Duals.

“Anytime (wrestlers go undefeated), its pretty special,” Kramer said. “We saw some great competition and our whole team elevated to a higher level but Noah and Spencer really shined.”
