Headed into the Class A & C track meet, the Arlee girls and Charlo boys were both the perennial favorites to excel at the Class A & C track meet Thursday through Saturday at the Laurel Sports Complex at Laurel High School.

All season, the Charlo girls, boys team has lived up to their illustrious tradition with multiple first-place victories. The Arlee Scarlets racked up several accolades of their own.

Neither the Charlo boys or Arlee girls teams disappointed and both finished in the top-10 of cumulative total points accumulated by several standout individual performances.

The Charlo boys ended up with a cumulative total of 25 points to finish in 8th place. The Scarlets’ track team finished in 7th tallying 25 points.

Yocum brings home hardware

The Arlee High School girls’ track team’s chance of finishing in the top-5 as a team was excellent because of the sheer number of events they had participants in at the Class A & C state meet.

Arlee Scarlet Natalie Yocum really began to elevate her level of performance to start “peaking” towards the end of the season.

At the state level, Yocum continued her acceleration towards all-state honors.

In all three individual events Yocum participated in, including the 800-meter, the 1600, and 3200-meter run, she placed three times in the top 5.

Yocum finished fourth in the 800-meter race with a time of 2 minutes, 24.32 seconds.

The fourth-place finish wasn’t Yocum’s shining moment at the meet.

Yocum finished second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 23.78 seconds and finished in third place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12 minutes, 15.08 seconds.

Hergett hurdles and jumps to three top-5 finishes

Throughout the regular season, Arlee’s Carly Hergett has stood multiple times at the top of the podium.

Hergett had a total of six first-place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles, five first place finishes in the long jump, and two first place finishes in the triple jump in the regular season.

Hergett continued her tradition of excellence at the state meet. Hergett had two top-5 individual finishes at state including the 100-meter hurdles and long jump.

Hergett finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.29 seconds.

Hergett also captured fifth in the long jump, recording a leap of 16 feet, 5.5 inches and sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 33 feet, 3.25 inches.

Revis showcases talent at state

Arlee senior Ashley Revis qualified for four events in state and was a state qualifier in two individual events.

Revis finished 9th in the 100-meter dash, recording a time of 13.57 seconds in the finals.

Revis was also a member of the 4X100 relay team that consisted of Shawntaya Nelson, Bryndle Goyins, and Carly Hergett that captured 7th in the finals with a time of 51.81 seconds.

The team of Natalie Yocum, Nelson, Goyins, and Revis finished in the top-10 in the 4X400 relay with a time of 4 minutes, 24.25 seconds.

Revis finished 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.32 seconds.
