Valley softball teams post all-win week

Polson takes down Dillon

Polson knocked out 16 hits in an 18-3 exhibition win over Dillon on Saturday, April 20. Samantha Rensvold picked up the pitching win, going four innings and striking out six.

McKenna Hanson swatted two doubles and drove in two runs while Carli Maley smacked a home run and drove in three runs. Olivia Jore finished the game with three hits and two home runs, finishing the game with six RBI.

Dillon was held to just three hits. The game was tied 2-2 in the bottom of the third, when Polson notched a six-run rally. In the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Pirates tallied a 10-run rally to cement the victory.

Lady Pirates shut out Plains-Hot Springs

The Lady Pirates didn’t take long to put up 15 runs against their non-conference foe, Plains-Hot Springs, on Tuesday, April 16. In a game that lasted three innings, Polson put up eight scores in the first inning on its way to a 15-0 victory.

Plains was held to one hit, while Polson’s Carli Maley, Avery Starr, and Serena Perez each drove in runs.

Samantha Rensvold pitched all three innings for the Lady Pirates.

Lady Pirates take out Whitefish

Polson started the week of strong, defeating Northwestern A Conference foe Whitefish 17-1 on Monday, April 15. Runs came fast and furious in a game that was over after two and a half innings.

The Lady Pirates jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first inning and added seven more in the bottom of the second. Mckenna Hanson drove in two runs in the game, as well as Avery Starr. Kailey Smith also hit a double in the matchup.

Whitefish was held to two hits, and Samantha Rensvold pitched two innings and struck out four.

Maidens cut down Lady Loggers

Ronan won its fourth straight, downing Libby 15-3 in Northwestern A Conference action on Saturday, April 20. Nikki Kendall put in a masterful performance in the circle, pitching seven innings, striking out 13, and allowing just four hits.

Ronan led 6-0 after two innings. After Libby cut the lead to 6-2, the Maidens scored four more runs in the fifth inning and finished out the game with five more runs.

Ronan wrapped up with 19 hits as a team. Kendall helped her own cause with three hits, three RBI, and a triple. Kailyn Marengo had three hits, two RBI and a double.

Nevaeh Perez hit a home run and drove in four runs on four hits, while Mira Corum doubled twice. Kaydance Santos also drove in two runs.

Ronan improved to 5-3 on the season.

Ronan sweeps Whitefish

In Northwestern A Conference doubleheader against Whitefish on Tuesday, April 16, Ronan brought the fireworks, defeating Whitefish 16-1 and 18-1. The Maidens had 21 hits in the doubleheader.

In the first game, Ronan used an 11-run second inning to pull well ahead of Whitefish for a 16-1 victory. Nikki Kendall pitched 2 and 2/3 innings, allowing just one hit and one run while striking out two. Kailyn Marengo notched two hits, a triple, and two RBI.

Kaydance Santos drove in two runs and had a triple as well. Nikki Kendall helped her own cause with two hits and drove in a run.

Ronan finished with 10 hits in the game.

In the second game, Ronan showed even more offense, posting an 18-1 victory. Kaydance Santos pitched 2 and 2/3 innings, striking out five and allowing just one hit. She helped her own cause with two hits, two RBI, and a triple. Kailyn Marengo had two hits as did Adrienne Crockett, who drove in three runs and had a double.

At Whitefish

 MAC defeats Thompson Falls/Noxon

Mission-Arlee-Charlo swatted 19 hits and defeated Thompson Falls/Noxon 16-4 in Class B softball action on Saturday, April 20. Izzy Evans improved to 5-2 in the circle, going six innings and striking out eight.

Evans also hit two home runs, while Maia Christopher had three hits, including a home run. Alecia Steele joined the homer-fest.

Evans finished with seven RBI, while Christopher had three. Steele and Amelia Cronk drove in two runs. Evans had four hits total, as did Steele. Cronk and Christopher had three hits, while GG Hawk had two hits.

The Bulldogs are now 4-0 in league play and 6-3 overall.

At St. Ignatius

MAC beats Plains

Mission-Arlee-Charlo left little doubt in a 16-1 victory over Plains on Thursday, April 18. GG Hawk hit a homer and finished with three RBI in the victory, while Alecia Steele had three hits and an RBI.

The Trotters fell to 0-8 on the year with the loss. Izzy Evans struck out four batters, while Kieran Incashola struck out another three for the Bulldogs.
