The banks, courthouse, USPS, county offices, etc. will be closed for the federal holiday honoring Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 15. We will be open – see below for the menu.

Because of print deadlines, I am writing this ahead of the Jan. 7 national championship (FCS) football game. It is great to see a Montana team reach that level of competition. Win or lose, my heart will always be with Montana teams – especially those near Polson. Just saying …

Almost all of our activities at the center require a weekly commitment. If you attend regularly, we ask you to support our community center by becoming a member for only $15 per year.

Senior bowling is available at 1 p.m. Tuesdays ($13 lane fee).

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (Friday is Richard Simmons’ turn); pinochle, noon-3 p.m. Thursdays (late arrivals welcome); bingo, 6:30 p.m. Fridays ($100 blackout), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Inquire at the center about bridge.

Tai Chi classes will be offered from 10-11 a.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 23- Feb. 27. This slow and relaxing movement exercise helps with balance and flexibility. The six-week session is $30.00 for non-members with a $15 discount for members of Polson Senior Center.

A veteran’s representative will visit the center Tuesday, Jan. 16, and Friday, Feb. 2, from 10 a.m.-noon.

Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays; a suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program. The menu is posted each week at the center, although it’s subject to change. Call before 10 a.m. for Grab-n-Go.

Upcoming main dishes include: meatballs in sauce, Jan.  11; biscuits and gravy with sausage links, Jan. 12; tomato soup, Jan. 15; meatloaf and mashed spuds, Jan. 16; BBQ chicken, Jan.  17; pork tips with gravy, Jan. 18; and chicken strips, Jan. 19.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at 504 3rd Ave. E. For more information, call 406-883-4735, email polsonseniorcenter@gmail.com or visit us on Facebook.
