Mission Valley cross country kids shine at Silver Fox

Two Mission Valley cross country runners got to showcase their superior abilities to the local fan base at the Mission Shadow Duels Saturday at Silver Fox Golf Course in Pablo.

Polson’s Bea Frissell and Ronan High School’s James Normandeau got a chance to showcase their running prowess by finishing in the top-five of their respective races.

Frissell captured first with a sub-19 finish recording a time of 18 minutes, 40.3 seconds and continued to solidify her as one of Montana’s elite runners that is gunning for a second-consecutive state running title.

Chiefs’ elite runner Normandeau also finished the race with a top-five placement. Normandeau’s time of 16 minutes, 46.3 seconds was third behind Luke Lutz and Joe Lamb. Lutz, a Frenchtown runner, finished with a time of 16 minutes, 46.9 seconds and Lamb completed a time of 16 minutes, 38.9 seconds.

Lady Pirates’ runner Molly Sitter placed just outside the top-10. Sitter finished with a time of 20 minutes, 55.2 seconds and Gwen Seeley finished in 20th place with a time of 22 minutes, 2.7 seconds.

Polson’s Mason Sloan finished the race with a time of 17 minutes, 12.6 seconds en route to a fifth-place finish. Normandeau’s teammate Brant Heiner, who recorded a time of 17 minutes, 37.9 seconds en route to his top-10 finish.

Charlo’s Wills Degrandpre also finished in the top-20. Degrandpre recorded a time of 17 minutes, 45.2 seconds, and finishing 16th in the race.
