SAFE Harborís new store, Sister Sallieís Thrift store, will be celebrating their Grand Opening next week in Ronan. It is located at the Old Creamery Mall across from Cenex on Highway 93.
The Grand Opening celebration runs from Wednesday through Saturday, April 17-20. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and there will be Grand Opening specials on merchandise.
Ardis Shoemaker is the manager the store, which will be open to raise money for SAFE Harborís services, and provide work experience and job training for SAFE Harbor clients. Sister Sallieís will be selling various items from clothing to household items. However, they will not be selling furniture.
SAFE Harbor is a non-profit agency providing services to victims of violence and their families. They assist victims in Lake County and on the Flathead Reservation facing the aftermath of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking. In doing so Safe Harbor delivers essential services such as shelter, crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, transportation, financial support, transitional guidance, referrals and legal assistance to many clients each year.
The clients of SAFE Harbor have the opportunity to work at Sister Sallieís. Working in the store will give their clients valuable training and skills that they will be able use in applying for other jobs. Clients will also be able to build a resume by working.
Most of SAFE Harborís clients have little work experience and are gaining skills to become more independent. Working in the store will be ideal for these individuals; by building skills and finding employment they will be more likely to have long-term success.
Donations and volunteers will be a key part in making this store a success from the Grand Opening onward. Even a half day a week can make a difference. Contact Shoemaker at 406-676-0095 or 406-261-0826 if you have interest in volunteering at Sister Sallieís Thrift store.
