Three confirmed fatalies in crash near St. Ignatius

There were three confirmed fatalities in the plane crash that occurred Thursday at 4 p.m. outside of St. Ignatius.

According to Lake County Sheriff Don Bell, the Montana State Highway Patrol responded to a call the crash outside of St. Ignatius.

The three confirmed dead were traveling from out of state visiting friends, Bell said.

When the private airplane craft crashed into a field, it possibly struck a powerline.

Responding to the emergency were the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the Montana Highway Patrol, and Mission Valley Ambulance.

The FAA will send out an agent to investigate the crash and monitor the scene all night, and the recovered bodies were sent to the crime lab, Bell said.

There will be no names of the deceased released until the family is notified.
