P U B L I C N O T I C E WMRFY20-715 The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Waste and Underground Tank Management Bureau, Solid Waste Program (SWP), received an application for a license to operate a solid waste management system. The application was reviewed and found to be complete. The name and address of the applicant are: Vern Reum 55528 US Highway 93 Polson, MT 59860 The application is for the licensure of a new Class III Tire Monofill. The proposed 28-acre landfill is located on a 40-acre parcel owned by the applicant, approximately 3.5 miles south of Polson, in the east 1/2, and southeast 1/4 of Section 26, Township 22N, Range 20W, and Lake County, Montana. The site was previously used as a gravel source and is currently an open pit. The proposed tire monofill would be developed in phases and has an estimated waste capacity of 1,450,785 cubic yards (approximately 47,900,000 passenger vehicle tires), with an operating life of approximately 48 years. The purpose of this notice is to inform the public of the proposed action and to seek public participation in the decision-making process. Outbuilding Public Comment and Review of Environmental Review Record The St. Ignatius School District will hold a public hearing on June, 16, 2020 at 7pm for the purpose of obtaining comments regarding the environmental review record for the proposed outbuilding project that will replace the old building that has been unsuitable for student use for a new building including two elementary classrooms.
