Polson Bay hosting Lake City Open this weekend

The 30th annual Polson Scholarship & Education Foundation Lake City Open will take place at Polson Bay Golf Course this weekend.

This event annually attracts one of Montana’s strongest amateur and professional fields. Top amateurs in this year’s field include defending champion Craig Hurlbert, Libby native Ryggs Johnston of Arizona State, Joey Moore of San Diego State, and the entire varsity Montana Tech team. The Championship division has 28 players with MSGA handicap index of of 1.6 or less.

The professional field is led by defending champion Jim Mee and current six-time Lake City Open champion Ryan Malby.

The Senior Professional field is led by former Lake City Open winner and former PGA Tour player Mike Grob and host professional and past Lake City Open champion Roger Wallace.

The Professional Purse is $9,500 with $3,000 to first place and the Amateur purse is $9,250 with $750 to the overall champion. Spectators are welcome and the leaders for the both the amateurs and professionals will tee off Sunday afternoon.

The Lake City Open is presented by Polson Scholarship & Education Foundation.

The Foundation is a locally operated and supported scholarship foundation, established to provide Polson High School graduates with scholarships and financial encouragement.

The Lake City Open annually raises nearly $10,000 for the scholarship fund through tournament sponsors. Founded in 2002, Polson Scholarship & Education Foundation has awarded $216,150 to 235 Polson High School graduates.
