The St. Luke Community Healthcare Foundation is holding its annual fundraiser online this year, with a five-day online silent auction. Bidding runs Sept. 21 through 7 p.m. Friday.

This year the foundation is raising funds for Maternal & Child Health Services. The goal is to improve outcomes around depression, substance-use disorders and mental health, and ensure that babies get the healthiest and most nurturing start in life.

Items for auction include collectors items and locally made arts and crafts, foods, services and experiences including vacation rentals and a fishing trip on the Clark Fork River. To join in the auction, visit one.bidpal.net/STLUKEFOUNDATION/welcome.

Drive-through flu clinic set for Sept. 30 at SKC

Peak flu season is right around the corner, and Tribal Health of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, in conjunction with Lake County Public Health and the Caring Foundation, are offering an opportunity for the community to get free flu vaccines.

Drive in, fill out some quick paperwork, get yourself and your family and friends vaccinated, then drive out— all from the comfort and convenience of your vehicle.

This mass flu vaccination event will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 in the Joe McDonald Gymnasium parking lot on the campus of Salish Kootenai College in Pablo.

The first 600 Tribal Health patients will receive a $15 gas card. Lake County Public Health will be available to vaccinate the general community.

Please bring insurance information. All out-of-pocket costs not covered by Tribal Health or insurance will be paid for by the Caring Foundation of Montana Care Van. Everyone age 6 months and older is welcome.

Officials ask that you do not have pets in the car and remind everyone to wear a mask.

Small-business relief grants available for CSKT-member-owned businesses

In response to the devastating economic impact of COVID-19, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Reservation are designating over $1 million in financial assistance to CSKT-member-owned small businesses. Using funds allocated by the U.S. Department of Treasury, the CSKT Small Business Relief Grants are part of the Tribal Council’s Economic Recovery and Revitalization plan to help businesses adapt to the challenges of the global health pandemic.

Awarded funds will be used to help support qualified CSKT-member-owned small businesses and active CSKT-member livestock producers in the recovery, stabilization and adaptation of business operations. A business can apply for up to $20,000 of working capital to help stabilize business operations for up to 9 1/2 months. If needed, businesses can also apply for up to $10,000 toward adaptation equipment and supplies. If a business needs both stabilization and adaptation funds, the owner can apply for up to $30,000 in total funding.

Funds can be used for working capital to support payroll, rent, accounts payable (such as utilities and vendors), debt services, and expenses related to shifts in operations (such as the purchase of personal protective equipment). CSKT’s goal for this funding is to help Tribal business owners retain their existing businesses, current employees, and remain viable for future re-employment. The deadline for all applications will be Nov. 15, 2020, or until funds are exhausted.

A full list of eligibility requirements and information needed for the CSKT Small Business Relief Grant application is listed at cskteconomics.org, including CSKT enrollment, 2019 Federal Income Tax Return, verification of certified business, and estimated financial losses and costs to re-open.
