Letter to the Editor: Stand down, Rosendale

Stand down, Rosendale

Matt Rosendale and the hard-right conservative minority in Congress unsuccessfully introduced legislation to fire Sen. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) for refusing to support the insurrection and Trump’s lies any longer. I saw this quote from him about why he did it:

“She’s brought this on herself.”

What the heck does that mean? Does it mean that it is not OK to speak up for what is right if the coup attempt is not yet over? Seriously, is that what he means? Why would a freshman congressperson act this way? Maybe because he is more expendable than an incumbent and remains under pressure to push Trump’s (and Gianforte’s) right-wing agenda? Or, did he simply mean it in the way an abusive spouse would? Either way it scares the heck out of me. What has happened to our country? If I could do it myself I would “bring on” a love of the truth over the lockstep. I’d bring on respect for those you disagree with and I’d melt all the lines in the sand that fear and loathing of the unknown has drawn. I’d bring on some snowpack but also bring on spring and the end of the pandemic very soon, too.
