Kenneth Richard Walker, 84

| October 11, 2021 7:05 AM

Kenneth Richard Walker passed away peacefully Oct. 4, 2021. He was born May 7, 1937, in Gooding, Idaho, to Edward and Velma Walker. He loved growing up in Idaho and Montana, enjoying and exploring the great outdoors.

In 1961 he was involved in a car accident that left him partially paralyzed, but he didn’t let limitations get in his way. He refused to believe the medical professionals who told him that he would not live or walk or have children.

He graduated from BYU in medical technology in 1966. He worked as a cytotechnologist at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, United Medical Laboratory in Portland, and McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden until he retired.

He married Ila Hinckley in the Salt Lake Temple on Dec. 29, 1967.

He was a wonderful example of kindness, patience, gratitude and enduring well. His family will miss his quick wit and gentle sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Ila, who loved, cared and served him faithfully for over 54 years; children Brenda (Michael), Jason, Teri (Tony); grandchildren Jared, Alex (Brittany), Nathan, Kyler, Caden, Amberly, Corey (Charie), Connor, Emily, Kale (Breeann), Dallin, Spencer; and great-grandchildren Sophie and Miles. He is also survived by siblings Larry, Dean and Alene, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family wishes to thank JaNae, “The Best Nurse Ever,” with CNS Home Health for her many years of kind and loving care, as well as the many caregivers throughout the years.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary. Interment was at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton.
