A 28-year-old man from Polson was killed in a one-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Powell County, according to a press release from Montana Highway Patrol issued Saturday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. near mile marker 165 on I-90 by Gold Creek, about 12 miles east of Drummond.

Slone Couture was driving a 2010 Honda Civic. MHP did not indicate in which direction he was traveling.

According to MHP, the vehicle “went off the roadway, into the median, and jumped the crossover.” It was airborne for 109 feet before touching back down and rolling multiple times. Couture was ejected, and emergency responders reported that he was dead on arrival.

MHP reported that road conditions were dry and Couture was not wearing a seat belt. Investigators believe drugs and excessive speed may have been factors, though the Powell County Coroner's Office had not completed testing as of Tuesday.
