Lake County commissioners will hold a public hearing next week regarding a resolution of intent to raise the county fees for solid waste disposal.

Fees have not increased since 2005, according to the commissioners’ resolution.

The county’s proposed fee changes include:

  • $15 per ton for wood waste, with no charge for the first 100 pounds if self-hauled by homeowner (Class III landfill).
  • $10 per cubic yard of construction and demolition waste (Class IV landfill).
  • $20 per ton for concrete without rebar (Class III).
  • $80 per ton for large animal disposal at the Transfer Station; $10 per carcass for dogs and cats.
  • $80 per ton with a $10 minimum for pay-as-you-throw non-assessed waste at the Transfer Station.
  • $150 per ton at Transfer Station or Class III landfill for loads not properly separated for disposal; $50 per ton at the Class IV landfill.

The hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25 in the Commissioners’ Office on the second floor of the Lake County Courthouse.
