POLSON — Sounds of sputtering tractors, chugging engines and the periodic shrill whistle of a vintage steam train filled the grounds of the Miracle of America Museum almost nonstop during “Live History Days” on Saturday and Sunday.

Held annually “Live History Days” doubles both as a fundraiser for the museum and a celebration of the past.

Dubbed by many locals as “the Smithsonian of the West,” the museum features more than 100 vintage vehicles, in addition to thousands of artifacts scattered throughout more than 40 buildings each with its own theme or purpose.

All kinds of activities and demonstrations kept wandering visitors entertained including rides in retired military vehicles and a vintage carnival ride.
