| January 12, 2023 12:00 AM

Doris Mckay, 89, a long-time resident of Polson, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Dec. 26, 2022.

Doris was born to Andy and Ivy Bullock on Oct. 30, 1933. She was one of eight children. She married Donald F. McKay on Dec. 31, 1953.

Doris is survived in death by her three children and their spouses, Peggy and Randy Hartvigsen, Don and Lonnie McKay, and Sandra McKay; her youngest sister, Cherry Howell; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, seven siblings, and her great-granddaughter.

Doris was a wonderful woman. She worked at the Western Bee mill in Polson for more than 20 years. She was actively involved with her husband in local veterans' support events. She loved fishing, baking, canning, and spending time with her family and friends.

Doris was a devoted witness throughout her full 89 years of life. She will always be loved and forever remembered by her family and friends for her humor, kindness and overwhelming strength. May we all be lucky enough to live as full of a life as Doris had.

"Memories"

No further away than a picture, smile, or remembered phrase, you will always live in memory, so close in so many ways. For how often will a sunset bring beautiful thoughts to mind of memories we shared together in days now left behind? Memories have a magic way of keeping our loved ones near. Forever close to our hearts are you, someone we hold most dear. – Anon

Doris's family will celebrate her life through a small memorial with her local congregation early in 2023.
