Lake County softball teams mostly fare well in busy week

Maley homers in Polson win

Polson scored six unanswered runs in a 6-2 victory over Dawson at the Butte Invitational on Saturday, May 13. Carli Maley homered and drove in three runs for the Lady Pirates.

Dawson led 2-0 after one inning, and then Polson took control. The Lady Pirates finished with six team hits. Kailey Smith had two hits, while McKenna Hanson and Kailey Smith drove in a run.

Samantha Rensvold went five innings and struck out four, giving up zero earned runs.

Polson defeats Havre

Avery Starr and Nevaeh Perez homered in Polson’s 12-9 victory at the Butte Invite on Saturday, May 13. The Lady Pirates led 10-3 after three innings and added two more in the top of the fourth.

Havre rallied for six runs in the bottom of the fourth but couldn’t come back. Starr finished with four RBI, while Samantha Rensvold drove in three runs and Perez had two RBI. Kailey Smith also hit a double.

Burland homers twice for Maidens

Ronan’s Tracee Burland homered twice, while Ally Luedtke hit a round-tripper as the Maidens downed Butte’s JV 8-4. Ronan finished with 10 hits as a team, with multi-hit games from Brogan Youngren, Kaydyne Santos, and Burland.

The Maidens scored seven runs in the top of the second and an insurance run in the top of the fifth. Luedtke, Burland, Benson all had multiple RBIs.

Pitcher Tyariah Morigeau went five innings, allowed just one earned run, and struck out five.

The win moved Ronan to 10-10 on the season.

MAC puts on show against Cut Bank

Mission-Arlee-Charlo broke out the fireworks at the Cut Bank Invite, collecting 22 hits in a 17-5 victory over Cut Bank on Saturday, May 13. Hayleigh Smith had five hits in the matchup, while Rheid Crawford, Izzy Evans, and Lettie Umphrey had three hits each.

Journey Crawford and Bennan Andersen each had two hits.

Smith drove in three runs, as did Payton Smith. Umphrey and Andersen drove in two runs apiece. Hayleigh Smith and Payton Smith each homered in the matchup. Payton also pitched five innings and struck out three.

MAC improved to 21-1 with the victory.

MAC wrangles CowDawgs

Izzy Evans homered twice, had three hits, and drove in three runs as Mission-Arlee-Charlo defeated Conrad 12-7 on Saturday, May 13, at the Cut Bank Invite. MAC led 11-0 after three innings and fended off a comeback by the CowDawgs.

Bennan Andersen also had two hits and an RBI in the matchup, while Rheid Crawford, Journey Crawford, and Andersen had home runs in the contest.

Evans also struck out three in the matchup, while Jada Domebo finished the final four innings, striking out four.

Anaconda can’t stop Ronan on base paths

Kaydyne Santos, Mira Corum, and Shelby Taylor each drove in two runs as Ronan defeated Anaconda 16-10 on Saturday, May 13. A six-run rally by the Maidens in the top of the third secured the win for Ronan.

Ronan led 10-5 after two innings, as Corum had two hits and a double. Santos had a home run and also pitched in the game.

Tyariah Morigeau struck out five as Ronan’s starting pitcher. Ally Luedtke, Raela Bartel, Morgan Simpson, Kaleigh Benson, and Santos each had two stolen bases in the win.

Ronan committed 11 errors in an 8-2 loss to Havre on Friday, May 12. Kaleigh Benson had two hits, while Tyariah Morigeau notched a triple and drove in two runs.

Polson falls to Laurel

Ansley Nordberg had two hits, and Mckenna Hanson homered, but Polson lost 6-5 to Laurel at the Butte Invite on Friday, May 12. Tyneesha Brown also added a double to the Lady Pirates' efforts.

The game was tied 3-3 after three innings before Laurel plated the go-ahead run in the top of the fifth. Laurel would score another two in the top of the sixth, and Polson answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame.

Three different Mission-Arlee-Charlo players homered as MAC downed Glasgow 15-0 on Friday, May 12. Bennan Andersen, Izzy Evans, and Lettie Umphrey all had round-trippers as MAC collected 11 hits as a team in three innings.

MAC led 2-0 after two innings, then scored 13 runs in the bottom of the third. Glasgow managed just two hits. Evans, Umphrey, and Andersen each had two hits, while Andersen finished with 4 RBI, Evans had three, Umphrey had two, and Kason Page also drove in two runs.

MAC downs Huntley Project

Mission-Arlee-Charlo shut down Huntley Project for the final four innings in a 6-3 victory on Friday, May 12. Bennan Anderson drove in four runs, while Gabby Smith smacked a home run in the victory. MAC led 5-3 after three innings and added an insurance run in the top of the seventh, finishing with 12 hits as a team.

Payton Smith pitched four innings in the circle and struck out five while allowing three earned runs and five hits. Izzy Evans came in relief for the final three innings, allowed no runs, just one hit, and struck out four.

MAC could have made the final score much more lopsided but left 13 baserunners on. Maia Christopher stole two bases in the matchup.

Billings Central handed Polson a rare 9-2 defeat on Friday, May 12, despite a home run from Caitlyn Ward. The game was knotted 1-1 until the bottom of the third when Billings Central had a six-run rally.

Mission-Arlee-Charlo had 12 hits in a 6-1 victory over Thompson Falls on Thursday, May 11, as Maia Christoper had a double, two RBI, and two hits in the win.

Columbia Falls gets past Ronan

The WildKats scored four runs in the top of the eighth to hand Ronan a 7-3 Northwest A Conference loss on Tuesday, May 9. Kaydynce Santos had a banner day for the Maidiens, notching two hits with a double and pitching eight innings in the circle, allowing no earned runs and striking out 10.

Ronan led 3-1 after three innings before Columbia Falls tied it up in the top of the fourth.

Ronan finished with 10 team hits, including two from Mira Corum and Shelby Taylor. Kaleigh Benson drove in two runs. Ally Luedtke and Benson each had doubles in the matchup.

Ronan committed six errors in the loss.
