Ronan, Polson athletes head to state track meet

At the Western A Track and Field Championships at Corvallis Community Event Center on Friday and Saturday, several personal bests were made by Mission Valley athletes as some punched their ticket to the State Track and Field Championships this weekend in Laurel.

Ronan’s Leina Ulutoa won the girls’ triple jump event with a mark of 34-8.5.

Ronan’s Olivia Heiner was fourth in the 800-meter run (2:25.49), a personal best time for the senior. Polson’s Ashtyn Wagner was sixth (2:27.90) with her best mark of her senior season. Wagner was also sixth in the 1,600-meter run (5:35.15), while Ronan’s Heiner was seventh (5:35.98). Both were season bests.

Heiner placed fourth in the 3,200-meter run with a personal best of 12:43.61.

Polson’s 4x400 relay team placed seventh at 4:35.82 thanks to the running of Wagner, Kellyn Nelson, Adison Carlson and Isabel Seeley.

Ronan’s Kylie Fetui posted a personal best in the javelin (106-05), placing third. Polson’s Kellyn Nelson was sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 9-6.

On the boys’ side, Polson’s Drifter Skillicorn placed second in the long jump with a mark of 20-11.5. Ronan’s Connor Durglo was second in the triple with a mark of 42-1.

Polson’s 4x100 relay team of Tommy Williams, Drifter Skillicorn, Jesse Kimball and Robert Merchant placed sixth with a time of 45.33. Ronan’s 4x400 relay team of Wade Qualtier, Tayen Edmo, Connor Durglo and Josiah Misa placed sixth with a time of 3:36.08.

Polson’s Astin Brown placed seventh in the shot put as a sophomore (44-1.5) while Ronan’s Kolby Finley was ninth in the pole vault (11-0).
