The Safe Driver Course, sponsored by AARP, will be held Sept. 24 from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required so that enough guidebooks are on hand. The $25 fee will mean a three-year discount on your car insurance policy, renewable every three years with a refresher course.

New and renewing memberships are now being accepted for our 2024-25 fiscal year; cost is $15.

Free flu/COVID vaccines will be offered by Safeway Pharmacy from 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 23.

A nutrition director is wanted, full or part-time. Apply at the center. Candidate should have basic record keeping, office management and phone skills.

Bowling “no-tap” is Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m. Have fun knocking those pins down (or not). Call Don at 406-885-5617 for details.

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: wood carving for beginners, 1 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, join any week; self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, sitting or standing; bingo, 6:30 p.m. Fridays ($100 blackout), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays.

Pinochle is now offered two days a week: 12:30-3 p.m. Thursdays (standard rules), or Mondays, “no-pass, partners” rules; also three- or five-handed starts in October. Inquire at the center about bridge.

Wednesday is game day – bring a game and a group of friends from 1-3 p.m. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays.

A veteran’s service officer visits the center on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month.

Meals are available for sit-down from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays, and delivered to qualified people who call before 10 a.m. A suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program.

Upcoming main dishes include: pork chops, Sept. 19; fish, Sept. 20; chicken and dumpling soup, Sept. 23; sweet and sour chicken, Sept. 24; burger stroganoff, Sept. 25; chili dogs, Sept. 26; and birthday dinner with roast beef and red velvet cake, Sept. 27.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at 504 Third Ave. E. For more information, call 406-883-4735, email polsonseniorcenter@gmail.com or visit us on Facebook.
