Polson offense overwhelms Noxon in 16-1 victory

The Polson Pirates didn’t waste any time flexing their offensive firepower in Saturday’s non-conference matchup, exploding for 16 runs in three innings to cruise past Noxon 16-1 at home.

A nine-run first inning set the tone for Polson, as the Pirates batted around. The offensive outburst continued in the second with three more runs, followed by a four-run third to enforce the mercy rule after the top of the fourth.

Polson’s bats were hot from the start. Cole Wadsworth went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Landon Shoemake had a perfect day at the plate, going 2-for-2 and driving in two. Maddox Bird added to the offensive fireworks with two hits in three at-bats, including three RBIs.

Noah Agliano, Cody Haggard and Landon Pablo each contributed one hit and one RBI. Agliano and Haggard both legged out triples, giving Polson three on the day.

Even with limited opportunities, the Pirates made nearly every at-bat count, tallying nine total hits against the visiting Red Devils.

On the mound, Polson was just as sharp. Wyatt Wadsworth started and pitched two dominant innings, allowing no hits or runs while striking out five. Haggard took over in the third, surrendering one unearned run on one hit, while striking out three and walking two.

Noxon managed to scratch across a run in the third inning but couldn’t muster enough offense against Polson’s pitching duo. The Red Devils were held to just one hit in the game and struggled to contain a Pirates team firing on all cylinders.

With the win, Polson improves to 2-0 on the young season.
