MDT hosts informational meetings for Polson-Somers corridor
The Montana Department of Transportation is developing a corridor study of U.S. Highway 93 between Polson and Somers. Informational meetings are slated for 4:30-6:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at the North Lake County Library in Polson, and 4:30-6:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Somers Fire Hall.
This planning study allows for coordination between the highway department, the public and stakeholders – including the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, local jurisdictions and environmental resource agencies – before any future design or construction projects are initiated.
According to a press release from MDT, the goal is to identify short- and long-term improvements to address transportation safety and operations, as well as helping ensure an efficient transition from transportation planning to future project development and environmental review, based on need and funding availability.
MDT staff will present initial improvement options for the corridor during the two in-person open house meetings. Attendees will have an opportunity to view exhibits and talk with study representatives. The format and content of each meeting will be the same.
MDT is also hosting a virtual informational meeting on Thursday, Feb. 20, from noon to 1 p.m., which will include a summary of the same information provided at the in-person events. To attend the virtual meeting, registration is required at
