Two Lake County students are among 40 Montana State University students who will be honored, along with their faculty and staff mentors, at noon on Friday, Feb. 14, at the 43rd annual Founder’s Day Awards for Student Excellence in the Strand Union Ballrooms.

They are: Makayla Camel of Ronan, a film and photography student in the College of Arts and Architecture, with mentor Alexis Pike; and Shelby Smith of Arlee, who’s studying food and nutrition in the College of Education, Health and Human Development. Her mentor is Susan Kelly.

Honored students are nominated by faculty in their colleges or departments. Qualified nominees must have at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated campus leadership and community service. Students each select a mentor who will be recognized with them at the event, which is hosted by the MSU Alumni Foundation.
