Polson girls defeat Browning for first time
The Lady Pirates defeated Browning for the first time in recent memory, and at least the first time since the Lady Indians moved over from the Central A Conference in the 2017-2018 season.
Polson outscored Browning 16-7 in the final quarter to defeat them 45-44 on Saturday, Jan.18. The win moved them to 2-0 in Northwestern A Conference action and evened their overall record at 4-4.
Rylee Taylor-Jefferson scored a career-high 29 points off nine field goals, including seven three-pointers. Browning led 17-11 after one quarter and 21-16 at halftime. They increased their lead by three points in the third before Polson’s furious comeback.
Browning dropped to 3-5 on the season with the loss. The Lady Indians had four three-pointers to Polson’s eight in a long-distance shootout.
Olivia Ramirez added five points to the Lady Pirates' efforts.

Polson opens conference play with a win
Polson opened up their Northwestern A Conference schedule with a 44-31 victory over Whitefish on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
The Lady Pirates got off to a hot start and led Whitefish 18-5 after the first quarter and went into halftime with a 26-11 advantage. The Lady Bulldogs went on a 14-4 run in the third quarter to pull within five points, but Polson finished the game off with a 14-6 run.
Rylee Taylor-Jefferson led the Lady Pirates with 20 points off five three-pointers, while Aleysia Black had 10 points, six rebounds, and four steals. Hinkley Moss scored eight points, hauled in eight rebounds and nabbed five steals.
The win dropped Whitefish to 2-4 on the season.

Maidens move to 2-0 In conference play
Ronan scorched their Northwestern A Conference foe Libby 61-28 at home on Saturday, Jan. 18. The Maidens jumped out to a 20-8 lead in the first quarter and never really looked back.
Nevaeh Perez led Ronan with 13 points off six field goals, while Kylee Kelch added nine points with 3-of-4 free throw shooting.
Ronan led 35-16 at halftime and held Whitefish to just 12 second-half points.
The Maidens improved to 2-0 in conference play and 5-3 overall, while Libby fell to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Ronan wins thriller over Columbia Falls
Talk about opening conference play with a bang.
Ronan defeated Columbia Falls 58-55 in overtime to win their first Northwestern A Conference victory of the season on Thursday, Jan. 16.
The Maidens went into halftime 22-19 but Columbia Falls was able to force overtime. Free throws by Natalee Adams and Ally Luedtke put the Maidens up for good in the extra period.
Maiden leading scorer Lauryn Buhr turned in a double-double with 10 boards and 16 points. Kailyn Marengo had 12 points, four boards, and three steals.
Columbia Falls fell to 2-5 on the season with the loss.

Mission defeats Troy and Eureka
Mission held Troy to just eight first-half points in a 69-18 victory in Western 7B basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 18. Kason Page had 16 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who won their fifth game of the season.
Mission jumped out to a 22-2 first-quarter lead and had a 40-8 halftime lead. The Lady Bulldogs then opened up the third quarter with a 21-7 run.
Kieran Incashola added 13 points, while Madison Incashola had nine.
Troy fell to 3-7 on the year with the loss.
Shaedon Kain had eight points and three other Lady Bulldog players scored six points in the win.
Incashola also scored a career-high 31 points as Mission defeated Eureka 66-34 on Thursday, Jan. 16.
The Lady Bulldogs hopped out to a 13-2 lead in the first quarter and pushed their advantage to 33-15 at halftime.
Incashola was 9-for-13 from three-point range in the matchup. Cora Matt added 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Page had nine points and nine assists.
Mission is now 2-1 in Western 7B play.
Eureka dropped to 1-6 on the year with the loss.

Lady Vikings pick up two more wins
Charlo went on a 23-2 run in the second quarter en route to a 58-21 victory over Nixon on Saturday, Jan. 18. Brielle Zempel led the Lady Vikings with 13 points, and four different Charlo players finished in double digits.
The Lady Vikings had a 38-8 halftime lead and cruised in the second half to improve to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in Western 13C action.
Seeley, McDonald, Maizey McDonald, and Avery Coleman all finished with 11 points.
Noxon dropped to 4-7 on the year with the loss.
The Lady Vikings didn’t lead much to chance Friday either, holding St. Regis to single-digit scoring in all four quarters of a 62-30 in Western 13C.
McDonald led the team in scoring with 19 points, while GG Hawk had 14 points and Brielle Zempel had 12.
Charlo led 14-6 after the first quarter and pushed their advantage to 28-14 at halftime. They opened up the second half with a 20-7 run.
St. Regis fell to 4-6 on the year with the loss.

Noxon defeats Two Eagle
Noxon picked up a 36-35 Western 13C victory over Two Eagle on Thursday, Jan. 16. Keke Tenas led the Lady Eagles with 14 points and eight rebounds in the loss.
Noxon led 13-6 after one quarter, but Two Eagle went on an 8-2 run in the second quarter to pull within one point, 15-14. The Red Devils had a two-point lead going into the fourth but Two Eagle couldn’t quite pull off the comeback.
Dayani Piapot had eight points, seven rebounds, and five steals for the Lady Eagles, and Dezalynn Lindquist scored four points and hauled in six rebounds. Emma Spotted Eagle had four points and nine rebounds.
Two Eagle fell to 2-9 on the season with the loss and 2-3 in league play. Noxon improved to 4-6 overall.

Arlee drops two league games
Arlee fell to Florence 70-11 in Western 6B on Saturday, Jan. 18, on the road. Florence led 46-2 at halftime and went on to pick up the victory.
The Scarlets also fell to Loyola 80-36 and 73-13 to drop to 0-3 on league play.
