Ronan boys win five duals in Livingston
Ronan wrestlers went 5-3 in the Class A Duals in Livingston over the weekend.
Against Butte Central, Luc Cheff (126 pounds) and Ridge Cote (132) notched pins over their opponents as did Jackson Davis (285) for a 72-9 victory. Davis’s pin came in just 27 seconds.
Ronan won a tight one against Lewistown as both teams traded pins. Skylar Sias (138) and Dominique McKay (175) notched pins against their foe, while Jairyn Krause (150) picked up a 9-6 decision, and Cote had a 15-0 technical fall at 132 pounds over Lewistown’s Jack Gillen in just 1:20.
In their dual against Hamilton, they scored another big win, 68-10. Cote (132) had a technical fall, while Brady Hout (190) recorded a 12-7 decision. Sias (138), Tobias Cantlon (157) and Davis (285) each recorded pins.
Against Miles City, the dual was full of forfeits for Ronan, but the Chiefs did get a technical fall from Cote (132) for the 53-23 victory.
Hardin picked up a 44-34 victory over Ronan. Ronan did get pins from Cote (132), Sias (138), Koda King (165), and McKay (175,) but Hardin notched six wins in the match and two forfeits to pick up the win.
Laurel handed Ronan a 67-6 defeat, with King (165) picking up the lone points via a pin over Laurel’s Caleb Cook.
Ronan did post a 35-27 victory over Lockwood. King (175) and Brander McCollum (110) got pins, while Davis (285), Cote (132), Sias (138) and Krause (157) notched decision wins.
Sidney/Fairview defeated the Chiefs 54-22, but Davis (285) notched a major decision and King (165) also posted a pin in 47 seconds. McKay (175) and Cote (132) also notched wins in the match.
Bulldogs take eighth at Ted Kato
The Bulldog wrestling team had eight wrestlers place at the Ted Kato Memorial Tournament over the weekend in Thompson Falls.
Mission-Charlo’s Joseph Cronk was second at 118 pounds, pinning two and collecting a technical fall over Sandpoint’s Jason Symons in the semifinals. Teammate Dakota Zeiler was second at 144 pounds, pinning three on his way to the championship bout.
At 165 pounds, Kruger Pierce was fourth for the Bulldogs, pinning four opponents, including Missoula Sentinel’s Liam Glass, in the consolation semifinals.
Ryan Sharbono was third in the 285-pound bracket, scoring a pin in the consolation semifinals and a 43-second pin over Asotin’s Ryder Jared in the third-place match.
In the girl's tournament, Mission-Charlo’s Olivia Carnell was first in the 145-pound bracket, scoring three pins, including a 2:57 pin over Sandpoint’s Teagan Newsom in the championship bout.
Meadow Ragen was first in the 155-pound bracket, scoring two pins, including a 1:54 fall over Sandpoint’s Zxyloh Johnson.
Amelia Cronk was second in the 130-pound bracket, pinning two. Laurin Padilla was also second at 235 pounds.
Haynes wins for Arlee
Arlee’s Dominick Haynes won first in the 126-pound bracket at the Ted Kato Memorial Tournament. Haynes picked up three pins, including one over Flathead’s Ryder Conklin in the championship bout.
At 144 pounds, Dean Moran placed fourth, scoring three pins, including a 2:44 pin over Missoula-Big Sky’s Marshall Skillicorn.
Bridger Smith was third at 190 pounds, notching a 53-second pin and winning the third-place match by forfeit.
In the girl's tournament, Arlee’s Lilybelle Buffalo placed fourth in the 130-pound bracket. Buffalo picked up two pins to reach the podium.
