Graduations are typically rather formal proceedings. Polson’s ceremony, held Saturday morning, boasted some real flair from the class of 2025.

Whether it was through speeches, the occasional confetti cannon or new traditions, the recent graduates made sure to distinguish themselves.

This class clearly wasn’t short on supporters with a gym jam-packed full of people cheering and clapping.

The ceremony started with the usual playing of Pomp and Circumstance, followed by a welcome from seniors Sophia Matt and Colby Yarger, who expertly presided over the ceremony. This was capped by the National Anthem and a traditional honor song performed by Badgertail Drum Group.

After the introduction, principal Andy Fors delivered his welcome in which he remarked, “this group has shaped our school in meaningful ways, and they definitely left their mark.”

Fors’ speech was followed by senior speeches delivered by Olivia Jore and Andrei Young based on the theme “Build Your Future.”

Next was a performance by the band under the direction of Richard Sawyer along with awards and distinctions by Alyssa Orien and Haislea Sternick.

After awards came the lone Valedictorian Speech, delivered by Samnatha Rensvold with a calm demeanor and a few laughs – especially one at the expense of some of her football-playing classmates.

The most poignant moment came near its conclusion.

“I want to encourage everyone as we take the big leap towards the start of our new lives, to take advantage of every opportunity presented to you,” she told her classmates. “To give full effort in the life you want to create for yourself.”

The last of the student speeches came from Salutatorian Ted Maussardt, who spoke on the new tradition of a compass that each graduate gave to someone in their life who helped guide them to this moment.

After all the speeches came the acceptance of the class of 2025 and the presentation of diplomas to the 94 graduates with each graduate receiving their own loud ovation and moment in the spotlight.

By the end of the celebration, confetti rained down like snow on a winter day and it was standing room only on the gym floor. It’s hard to argue with Fors’ that this class definitely left their mark.
