Polson looking very sharp this spring

| June 19, 2025 12:00 AM

Many thanks to those who have pitched in to make Polson look especially sharp this spring. For example:

• Our own Flathead Lake monster is now “swimming” in her own bright blue sea in Sacagawea Park. I watched a little girl (and heard her laugh) as she climbed on the bronze statue just as Pat Binger, whose generosity made the “monster” a reality, envisioned.

• Delaney’s Landscaping has once again planted a bed of hot pink petunias to cover the traffic island at the intersection of Highways 35 and 93.

• The Memorial Garden at the east end of Ducharme Park on Highway 93 has been totally transformed because of the redesign and work by Alpine Landscaping. Labor cost involved in the project has been covered by a very generous anonymous donor.

• The beautiful hanging flower baskets dress up downtown for summer because of all the donors who provide funding for their planting and maintenance.

• Sandpiper Gallery artists have added another “beauty spot” with their newest paintings on the concrete block walls of the pump station building between the golf course and Highway 93. They say there are more murals to come.

• Volunteer gardeners spend time weeding, trimming and dead-heading the plants in the “bump-outs” on Main Street.

• Many residents made Polson a “tidy town” by picking up trash along our streets during “Clean Up, Green Up” this spring.

• Now we are looking forward to mid-summer when local gardeners will be recognized in the Polson in Bloom contest.

These are all wonderful examples of community pride. I am very thankful to live in Polson where we obviously care so much about our community.
