Government study commission welcomes input

| March 6, 2025 12:00 AM

Citizens of Polson,

The voters of the City of Polson voted to review their government, and thus a commission of five Polson individuals and one at-large member from the city commission were appointed to undertake this study.

Since we last reported, the commission has been busy completing the online government course with the Montana State University Extension office. We have also interviewed the Polson City Commissioners and the mayor, plus reviewing their duties, roles and responsibilities, along with those of the city manager.

In addition, we have been reviewing other cities’ governments, setting a timetable for this 18-month review of department heads and employees and former study commissions.

The Polson Study Commission holds open meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at City Hall starting at 3 p.m. As summer approaches, the commission will be holding town-hall type meetings and will be available to groups that are interested in Polson’s government and how it operates under a charter-type of government.

We only get the opportunity to review our government every 10 years, and your study commission would like the input from the citizens of Polson to help us make sound decisions.
