Objects to AG Knudsen's efforts to undo Section 504 protections
Montana State Attorney General Austin Knudsen is one of 17 Attorneys General who are suing to have Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act declared unconstitutional. Section 504 protects people with disabilities from discrimination at school and in the workplace.
Section 504 requires schools and workplaces to provide reasonable accommodations for students and employees with disabilities, and protects them from forms of discrimination such as being passed for a promotion or denied a raise due to their disability.
Nearly a third of Montanans rely on these protections. Furthermore, accidents happen, and anyone could find themselves in need of Section 504 protections at any time.
It is irresponsible for Attorney General Knudsen to be attempting to do away with a law that provides protections that so many Montanans rely on. I urge everyone to write or call him asking to drop this lawsuit.
