Helitack crews attack Crow Canyon, Wild Horse fires
A Helitack crew contracted through the Division of Fire for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes responded Monday morning to a lightning-caused wildland fire high in the Mission Mountains south of North Crow Canyon. The North Crow fire burned only one-tenth of an acre as a crew of five firefighters were flown by helicopter to the site to fight the flames, aided by the helicopter's water bucket.

The heavily-negotiated draft Annual Funding Agreement was officially released Tuesday by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.
Mariners sparkle in Firecracker Tournament
POLSON - Pouring rain doused the grand finale at the Mission Valley Mariners' Firecracker Tournament by canceling Sunday's championship game after the first inning. Leading 3-1 against the Libby Loggers, the Mariners were pronounced the champions with the Loggers finishing second followed by Cranbrook, B.C., Kalispell, and Salmon, Idaho.
