Charlo girls have returning talent; boys look to rebuild
CHARLO- Charlo girls head coach Bret Thompson lost three seniors to graduation in June but has five letter winners coming back. Last year the Vikings went 17-1 in conference play and finished fourth in the state.

A Polson man who admitted providing alcohol to a 15-year-old girl who later died was sentenced to eight years last week, with five suspended, after his probation officer caught him trying to buy beer for a minor last summer.

RONAN - With the valley's volleyball bragging rights up for grabs last weekend, Ronan came out ahead with wins over the Lady Pirates and Columbia Falls Wildkats, as all the teams head to the divisional tourney today (Nov. 11).
Charlo lives; Mission, Arlee wrap up
Mission defeated rival Arlee 25-17, 25-13 and 26-24 during the District 6B Tournament at Thompson Falls High School. The Bulldogs ended their season with losses to Thompson Falls and Plains during the tournament. The Bulldogs finished their season 2-11.

Parents sue School District 30 over 11-year-olds' deaths
The parents of two boys who died of exposure and alcohol toxicity last February filed suit last week against Ronan School District 30, alleging the district was negligent and could have prevented the boys' deaths.

POLSON - Earlene E. Lovinger, 89, of Polson died of natural causes on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Polson. She was born Oct. 26, 1915, to Edgar and Pearl (Steele) Hopkins in Hamilton, and attended schools in Hamilton and Missoula.
Local veterans served with honor
The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. 1918. World War I came to an end and Americans celebrated victory along with their allies. In 1954, this historic date would become the national holiday known as Veteran's Day. The holiday was legislated to occur on the fourth Monday in October in 1968. However, it was returned to its original observance in 1978 due to the profound significance of Nov. 11th to American veterans who fought one of the greatest conflicts of modern times.
