So far I've not had any all-expenses paid junkets to exciting places. But I did attend the National Council of State Legislators (NCSL) convention last week in Seattle. Many states pay the way for their legislators. We don't and that's OK with me. But as many of you know, Seattle is pretty expensive.
Sun Road cost sure have increased over the years
Earlier this month some $50 million was approved for the reconstruction of parts of the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park. Interesting figure. By comparison, the original total cost of construction, which was spread out over many years, was estimated at $3 million.

Tribes honor 150th anniversary of Hellgate Treaty
MISSOULA — On July 16, 1855 members of the Salish, Kootenai and Pend d'Oreille tribes signed a treaty with Gov. Isaac Stevens agreeing to cede their 20 million acres of land to the United States in exchange for the 1.25 million-acre reservation in the Flathead Valley. And 150 years latter, both Indian and non-Indians alike gathered at the site of the signing to remember the past and look to the future.

Thousands converge for successful 13th annual Hoopfest
