What will the next 50 years bring?
I wonder if things will change as much in the next 50 years as they have in the past 50. My friends George and Helen Thomas of Seattle in their Christmas letter said these comments were made about happenings in 1957. See how many you remember:

Erma Mae Otto (Panchot)
Erma Mae Otto (Panchot), 74, Pablo, died at home Saturday. She was born May 14, 1932, at St. Ignatius and attended Dixon schools. Erma traveled to the Philippines in 1949 when her father Harry Panchot was sent to build Voice of America broadcast stations. She also traveled to Greece and Europe and then returned to graduate from Ronan High School in 1950.
Ronan ends losing streak with three wins
With convincing wins against Mission on Friday, Hamilton on Saturday, and Polson on Tuesday, the Ronan Chiefs officially shook off the shackles of a 23-game losing streak, and in doing so, served notice that they are a team on the rise.

It was Christmas Eve … one of those crystal clear, sharp, snapping cold, zero degree winter nights, common to the northern Rockies. A myriad of glittering pinpoints punctuated the black skies. Starshine combined with light from the last quarter moon to cast an eerie glow over the snowscape as silver smoke ribbons curled upward from ranch house chimneys.
Pirates now 1-1 in conference
The Polson Pirates are now 1-1 in conference play after getting a big win over Whitefish and dropping a tough one to Ronan over the past week. They will look to bounce back on Friday night against Eureka before heading into the break.

"Freddie" Decker, the only son of Fred B. and Mary (McClure) Decker, was born Feb. 12, 1917, and died of natural causes Saturday morning, Dec. 16, 2006, at the family home. Freddie was a proud member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and was the oldest living tribal war veteran.

Ronan wrestlers take second place at Corvallis
The Ronan wrestlers had a good showing in Corvallis this weekend, taking second place out of three teams. They had six tournament champions overall, including two second-place finishers and one third-place finisher.

The Ronan Chiefs basketball team is returning 11 players from last year's team, and is searching for their first win. They came oh so close last weekend, narrowly losing to Frenchtown on Friday, 45-43, and then losing to a talented Dillon team 76-48 on Saturday.
Bison Range agreement nixed
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife service abruptly terminated all Tribal management activities at the National Bison Range Monday and said it would not negotiate for any future roles, as Tribal employees at the range were fired Tuesday morning.
