RONAN — Raymond “Cub“ Baylor, died of cancer in Ronan on Wednesday, Feb. 6. He was born and raised in Montana in a large family of four sisters and three brothers. He joined the Army with his brother Bob and served in Korea. In the army he met his wife Avis Studt. They were married for over 25 years and raised three boys.

Wake services will started Wednesday in the Elmo Hall, with Rosary on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Friday at 10 am in the Elmo Hall with burial to follow at the Dayton Cemetery.

ST. IGNATIUS — Bessie Edna (Bates) Finley, 98, was born the only child to Platte and Mabel Bates in Minden, Neb., on March 24, 1908. She had one adopted brother, Robert Stewart. She married Claude E. Finley in Buffalo, Wyo., on May 20, 1928, and graduated from high school the following year with a perfect average in arithmetic.

Stand-off ends peacefully
A Polson man was taken into custody early Tuesday morning, following a stand-off that ended after the county’s Special Response Team was able to subdue the man without injury.
