St. Ignatius retains traveling trophy award as eight from Western Montana qualify for Regional Punt, Pass & Kick
All eight sectional winners from Western Montana have qualified to compete in the NFL Team Championship of the NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick (PPK) program. The competition will be held in Seattle on Dec. 9 just prior to the Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals NFL game. The eight youths, their age and home towns are: Kendyl Boltz, 9, and Matt Berg, 15, of Butte; Emilio Bravo, 9, and Austin Durglo, 13, of St. Ignatius; Tay Hall, 11, of Choteau; McKenzie Johnston, 11, of Helena; Riley Kenny, 13, of Polson; and Katie Fitzpatrick, 14, of Ronan.

IGNATIUS — Marge Michell, 70, died peacefully in the loving arms of her sister, daughters, granddaughter and niece at her home Nov. 19, 2007, the same date one year ago that her special mother-in-law, Mary Michell Mills, died. Our Grama Mary was waiting at the gates of heaven for our Mom along with all her family that preceded her death.

Mack Days ends with fish fry
Fall Mack Days ended Sunday Nov. 11 with a record number of lake trout being harvested in the 21-day event. The number of lake trout in the seven weekends of the Fall Mack Days Fishing Event totaled 14,415. Mack Days featured 487 anglers entered in the event with 219 turning in entries.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A funeral service for Betty Jean Strong Cotrell was held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Holman's Funeral Service in Portland. Betty was interred with her husband, Lewis "Red" Cotrell (1919-1998), at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Mountain lion attacks hunter in Swan area
A hunter was attacked by a mountain lion Sunday morning in the Squeezer Creek area of the Swan drainage, and was treated for scratches and puncture wounds, but his backpack was credited with saving him from more serious injury.
