POLSON — In District Court Wednesday morning, Jana Marie Baker pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide while under the influence for the 2008 death of Shari Ann Tiger, a passenger who was killed when Baker caused a head-on collision.

Order of protection filed by city manager dismissed
POLSON — Last Wednesday afternoon, Justice of the Peace Chuck Wall decided not to renew a restraining order filed by city manager Todd Crossett against local real estate agent Rory Horning. When issuing his verdict, Wall said that based on the evidence presented, he could not find that Crossett was in danger of imminent bodily harm, the standard necessary to award such an order.

Norma V. “Muggs” Martin, 77, passed away Friday, June 4 in Missoula. A visitation was held at Foster Funeral Chapel in St. Ignatius. Services were held at the Longhouse in St. Ignatius with inurnment followed in the Pleasant View Cemetery in St. Ignatius.
Clarence George Rotering
During the beekeeping years of his life, Clarence G. Rotering believed and received Jesus’ offer of forgiveness of sins and life eternal. On June 1, he went to his eternal reward in Heaven. He died at the age of 75 after suffering a stroke on Monday, May 30 in Helena.

Alfred Joseph Jones, 76 died of natural causes in his own bed with his wife, Ada, at his side on Wednesday morning, June 8. Al was born June 10, 1934 in Ada County Idaho to John and Amelia (Tellier) and was the first of 11 siblings.

A Vietnam veteran and true cowboy, he is survived by his wife, Karen “K.T.” Tromp, and his children: Shannon Tromp, Dusty Dae Tromp Sample, Guy Travis Tromp, MacKenzie Weiss and Drew Elizabeth DeForest; grandchildren, Hunter Priniski, Jordan Andrew Sample, Lexie Priniski and Tyler Sample; sister, Becky Rolf; uncle, Jim Reddon, and countless friends and family members.

EPA grant to clean up Elmo contamination site
ELMO — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded $4.35 million in Brownfields grants to five organizations throughout Montana, including the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Nation, who will receive $200,000 to remove up 2,500 cubic yards of petroleum-contaminated soil at the nine-acre Joseph Allotment, along U.S. Highway 93 in Elmo.
Flood warning issued for Lake County
LAKE COUNTY — The National Weather Service put Lake County in Flood Warning stage as of Tuesday afternoon, predicting additional rainfall and snowmelt runoff will lead to significant flooding across Northwest Montana and Idaho this week.
