POLSON — On Tuesday, Nov. 1, Polson’s Board of Adjustments approved a variance to the city’s code which will allow Mission Valley Aquatics to build a 20-foot, chip sealed road to the aquatic center, rather than the 26-foot asphalt road with curbs, gutters and sidewalks the Polson City/County Planning Board required of them.

Man charged in extortion case
POLSON — A Polson man pleaded guilty to involvement in an extortion attempt that demanded $10,000 from the victim. Facing charges of theft, 20-year old Canyon Murrin accepted a plea agreement Nov. 2 and will be sentenced for the crime on Dec. 7.
Mission local wounded in Afghanistan
ST. IGNATIUS — On Oct. 16, 21-year-old Montana soldier Sam Helmer was critically injured in eastern Afghanistan after unknowingly triggering an explosive device. The incident left him fighting for his life but, three weeks later, Helmer’s condition continues to improve.
