PABLO — Starting Monday, Feb. 27, Tribal Transit will provide a van in the Arlee and Mission communities to provide elders and others needing transportation within town to senior centers for meals, doctor’s appointments and/or THHS, the post office, grocery store, community centers, culture committee and to the main bus stops to catch the commuter buses to other towns, etc. This service will be available Monday and Wednesday in Mission and Tuesday, Thursday, in Arlee.

Polson man fires shots at family reunion
POLSON — A family reunion proved to be too much stress for a 66-year-old man who was given a five-year suspended sentence in Lake County District Court last Thursday for firing a .40 caliber pistol from the basement of his house toward the upstairs area which was occupied by his partner and her family members.

In 2011, the worst drought in the history of the state of Texas wreaked havoc on the area. Temperatures easily surpassed 100 degrees and rain was as scarce as green grass. The drought was actually so vast, it spread to Oklahoma and New Mexico and did a number on the cattle numbers in the area.

Dorothy A. Allen, age 93, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 18, 2012 . Dorothy resided at the “Retreat” Assisted Living home in Polson. Dorothy was born on Jan. 4, 1919 in Los Angeles, Calif. to W.C. and Ada Frazier. She was educated in Burbank, Calif. and attended school at Pasadena Nazarene College where she majored in elementary education. After graduating from college she married her true love, John Allen, on Feb. 13, 1942. After moving to Glendora, Calif. she taught third and fourth grades for 18 years.

NORTHWEST MONTANA — Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks wants to alert all hunters to important updates to the 2012 preseason calendar, especially new deadline and drawing dates. The biggest change this year is the deadline for residents and nonresidents to apply for deer and elk permits – now March 15. This date was moved up to allow hunters more time to prepare for hunts. Drawings for those permits will now occur in mid-April as opposed to July.

Molloy sentenced Vincent Joseph Curley, a 31-year-old resident of Ronan, to five months in prison and five months home arrest, plus three years supervised release for his guilty plea to possession of a firearm after having been previously convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

Christopher Gerald Dentler, age 53, of Polson, passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson. He was born Sep. 4, 1958 in Portland, Ore., to Carl and Rose Maureen Dentler. Christopher grew up in Portland and graduated from St. Helens High School. He married Barbara Hallock on June 10, 1975. He lived in Portland and St. Helen’s, Ore. until 2001 when they moved to Polson.
