NORTHWEST MONTANA — For all of you wolf hunters reading this, there is good news: Wolf Management Unit 130 is still looking to harvest one wolf from its original quota of 12. WMU 130 closed, but upon discovery of an illegal harvest, was reopened to the public nearly a month ago because illegal harvests are not counted against public opportunity.

POLSON — Polson Police Officer Jim Atkins and Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Mike Carlson were awarded the Lifesaving Ribbon Wednesday night at the Polson City Council meeting. He is survived by his wife, Traci; daughter, Rebecca (15); sons, Christian (16), Cameron (12) and Corbin (8); his mother, Debbie Kromrey (Steve) of What Cheer, Iowa.; his father, Darrell Little (Dee) of Cody, Wyo. Memorial services will be held at Grace Baptist Church, in Cody, Wyo., on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at 11 a.m. with a small reception to follow. Janet “Tiny” K. Burtch, 67, of Dixon went to be with the Lord and loved ones Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, 10 years to the date after her beloved husband of 40 years, Dick Burtch, passed away on Nov. 29, 2001. She was surrounded by family whom she was very close to and loved them all as much as they loved her. She will be deeply missed, but the love of her life, Dick, came to take her home.

Bryce Arle Johnson went to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 21, 2012. Born Oct. 21, 1937, Bryce was the second born son of Arle (Swede) and Bessie Mallory Johnson of Polson. He and his brother Elliot grew up on the south shore of Flathead Lake where they fished, hunted, took summer swims and went winter ice skating.

POLSON — A 49-year-old Polson man was arraigned on charges of solicitation and sexual acts on a 21-year-old woman and pleaded not guilty in Lake County District Court on Thursday. Nathan Whitefountain faces up to 100 years in jail and fines of $100,000 after he allegedly asked the victim for sex and performed a sex act on her without her permission.

POLSON — A Polson woman was given a five-year prison sentence for a vehicular homicide incident in 2008 that resulted in the death of Shari Ann Tiger. After signing a plea agreement and admitting to the crime on June 15, 35-year-old Jana Baker was sentenced last Wednesday morning in Lake County District Court.
