Support needed for Republican senate healthcare bill
Senator Tester, other liberal Democrats and the Media are misrepresenting the impact on Medicaid of the proposed Republican Senate Healthcare Bill (SHC) to replace the ACA (Obamacare). According to ABC News Fact Check, for fiscal year 2018, the SHC would reduce Medicaid spending a paltry 2.9 percent, and spending would INCREASE 20 percent by 2026. The” reductions” in Medicaid spending being trumpeted by Tester are based solely on the whopping 50 percent, $209 billion, estimated increase in spending under the current ACA(Obamacare) law, due primarily to expanded eligibility for Medicaid. This would be paid by increased tax penalties paid by those who can’t afford ACA premiums, even greater premium increases to the insured and continuation of the 30 additional taxes imposed by the ACA.
Recent Inter Lake eagle article lacked all of the facts
The Daily Inter Lake published an anti-hunting tirade on its front page recently that was authored by the AP. The sob story mentioned 38 out of 336 bald eagle deaths over a 15 year period in New York were due to lead poisoning blamed on hunters and no other source. A source in Oregon was quoted as having lost two bald eagles so far this year due to lead poisoning. The hit piece goes on to discuss banning lead ammunition.

Unfortunately, extreme heat probably kept a lot of people from stopping in to enjoy the arts and crafts displayed for viewing and sale at the second-annual Cultural Arts Fair held Saturday at Ninepipes. A vendor who showed last year estimated that about the same number of vendors were at this year’s show, but said that the art enthusiasts had been few in numbers. The annual auction is a fundraiser with all proceeds benefitting the Mission Valley Amish Christian School. Everything from antiques to hay, to tack to pullets, to furniture, to quilts, to flowers, to buildings were up for sale in three auction rings. Large tents were set up to protect both wares and people and enormous fans helped cool the interiors of the tents. A few vendors sold artwork and other items while the Amish ladies sold their famous BBQ chicken dinners, homemade pies and ice cream. The ice cream was being made right on the grounds as generators kept the machines churning. People came and went all day long looking for treasures and many went home with prized items. Both the day and the auction were red hot!

From its inception, the group has worked to create quilts for donation and also has put on an annual quilt show where members of the guild display their individual quilts.
