Trump cabinet picks threaten democracy
Let’s put party politics aside for just a few minutes. Democracy is at stake. Some glaring facts. This involves our new administration’s people of influence. Here are four outstanding examples.
Livestock grazing renaissance emerging
Intensive grazing, also referred to as mob grazing, incorporates a simple strategy to reduce actual input costs while maximizing conservation values. What is intensive grazing? In the case of small or large scale ranches, it simply requires the strategy of moving your livestock, every 12 hours, into small confined pastures that have not been grazed up to 40 days. The pasture is never grazed below 9 inches of growth which encourages a quicker, thicker regrowth and a deeper, hardier root system. It also chokes out the weed seed germination cycle.

County clerks: mail ballot elections are secure, practical
Many letters and opinions have been written about running the upcoming May 25 Special Congressional Election by mail. I have been running elections for our county for going on 19 years now. When I first started, elections were much different than they are today. We had very few absentee voters. In fact I can remember when sending 300 absentee ballots was a huge number in our county. Now we send out 13,000. We no longer really run poll elections. They are more of hybrid between mailing absentees and poll locations, except that now the voters who are casting absentee ballots are outnumbering the voters who are casting ballots at the polls.
