The game would be a final test that would challenge their undefeated regular schedule slate, but Charlo proved to be up to the task and adjusted to the challenges that the Scarlets would throw their way.
Vote for the person, not party
Like many of my friends, I was raised a Montana Republican. I believe that I still hold most of the values of my youth and of a Montanan. Unfortunately, the Republican party of today does not. The Republican party of my youth would never have condoned and celebrated the behavior of a President who encourages divisiveness; threatens the security of our nation through his verbal attacks on our allies, our intelligence agencies, our free press, and on individual Americans; and holds innocent children in detention camps. The former Republican party would be disgusted with a President who throws tantrums like a child, lies incessantly and bullies anyone who doesn’t bow to his demands. The pre-Trump Republican party would not defend a President who has committed fraud, sexually assaulted multiple women, cheated on three wives, and shamed our country by embracing murderous autocrats like Putin, Un, and the Saudi Crown Prince. The Republican party I once favored has disappeared and the current figurehead of that party does not deserve even a modicum of respect.

Tester following liberals' lead
People of Montana, it’s time to start thinking of the future for Montana and how we want to live and do here! Look at what is happening in California, New York City, Chicago and Portland with out-of-control crime, law personnel being blamed, open boarders and sanctuary cities and guns being banded from law abiding citizens!

My husband and I own and operate a hay farm in southern Lake County. We supported keeping the density map as a regulatory document in order to preserve farms, ranches, and open spaces. The density map allowed for development but steered it toward cities and towns.
Evaluating candidates on values
As a “committed” political independent, I have voted for candidates of all stripes and colors over the years. Some say that committing to “independence” is more a commitment to sitting on the fence. Not so. It states that I reserve the right to evaluate candidates based on individual values, not the bias of any political party.
Graveley fails to provide compact alternative
In his anti-compact column (Leader, Oct. 11, “Stockgrowers Association opposes FARM”), Matt Graveley, vice president, Rocky Mountain Stockgrowers Association, states that the “biggest whopper” told by compact supporters is that it was negotiated “with input from agriculture groups and water users.” I irrigate 220 acres and actively participated, like many others, in frequent compact negotiating sessions, open to individuals and organizations, that began in 2009 and concluded in early 2015.
Initiative 185 is a personal issue
Although I am typically a fairly non-political individual, I feel very strongly that is it time to speak out in support of Initiative 185. For me and for many others in Montana, tobacco and tobacco-related products have taken a staggering toll on the ones we love. I recently lost my husband of 45 years to lung cancer directly related to a lifetime of tobacco use. Like many in his generation, Don started smoking as a teenager and struggled throughout his adult years to quit.
Support for CSKT compact
We and most of our neighbors on the Flathead Indian Reservation support the CSKT compact. It protects our state-based water claims, it provides certainty that we will have water to continue farming, it provides money to improve the aging infrastructure of our water project, it makes 90,000 acre feet of water out of Hungry Horse available to the state of Montana and it gives the state a say in development of water on the Flathead Indian Reservation (something no other tribal compact in the state does). It give us a certain future. Litigating all tribal claims through water court guarantees us nothing.

Montana water right holders have recently received official looking mailers that appear to be a litigation notice from the Montana Water Court. Dayton Daze 2018 an overwhelming success
The Chief Cliff VFD/QRU would like to thank everyone who contributed goods, services, time and money to make the 27th annual Dayton Daze celebration a whopping success! We brought in more than $14,000 which included raffle ticket sales throughout the summer, silent auction, car show, sales of merchandise, food, beverages, 50/50 and cash donations during the event. Without the support of our communities and business people, we would not have been able to raise these funds, which will go toward the purchase of the used 1999 tender we have targeted for this year’s fundraising.
