Jane Doreen Belknap Butkay, 88
By the shores of Flathead Lake, Jane Doreen Belknap Butkay was born on July 15, 1931 at Hotel Le Dieu Hospital in Polson, to parents Cassius Belknap and Florence (Turner) Belknap. She joined a sister Louise. On July 16, 2019, Jane passed away peacefully at her Rollins home overlooking her beloved Flathead Lake after celebrating her 88th birthday with her loving husband, Paul Butkay. In between those two dates she had a life story to tell.

Nelson named Polson American Legion commander
Jeff Nelson served with the 172nd light arctic infantry brigade at Fort Richardson, Alaska from Oct. 1973 to May 1976. He was part of a combat support company that specialized in Redeye air defense missiles. Nelson attained the rank of Sergeant at the time of his discharge. It was in Anchorage, Alaska that Jeff joined Spenard Post No. 1 of the Alaska American Legion while still on active duty.

Donna Fae Mefford Rollins was born February 1, 1928 in Missoula, the daughter of Ted and Alberta Colvin Mefford. Her family lived in Ronan and Anaconda before moving to Flathead Lake in the late 1930s. In 1942, they went to Hot Springs and Donna attended high school there.
